Dr. Kaisha Thomas
Dr. Thomas is a seasoned clinician with over 24 years of experience in the field of psychotherapy, specializing in family systems, trauma, addiction, and sexual and relationship issues. Utilizing a solution-focused, strength-based approach, Dr. Thomas is dedicated to empowering her clients to navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal growth. She is committed to tailoring her therapeutic approach to meet each client’s unique needs, fostering a safe and supportive environment that encourages healing and transformation. Her commitment to enhancing mental health services and her extensive clinical and operational experience, demonstrate her dedication to improving outcomes for diverse populations.
Dr. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University with a specialization in Medical Family Therapy and Health Care Systems, and two Master's degrees, one in Dance and Movement Therapy and one in Mental Health Counseling. She earned an undergraduate degree from the Juilliard School, with a major in Dance. Her credentials include Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified Sex Therapist (CST), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), and Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE), among others.
Dr. Thomas also brings extensive academic experience, having served as a Part-Time Faculty member at Capella University’s School of Counseling & Human Services since 2012 and as a Teaching Assistant at Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her work in academia, including teaching and mentoring at both the Master's and Ph.D. levels, reflects her passion for education and commitment to developing the skills of future mental health professionals.
